I am currently retired from the US Food and Drug Administration (31 years) and worked to improve food safety measures (method development, regulatory input) for the Agency. During my tenure at the FDA, I have mentored over 60 high school and college students who worked in my laboratory and I have participated in the IAFP mentor program for a few years. I have been a microbiologist since my undergraduate days and keep somewhat current on this topic by teaching at the college level at several colleges/universities.
On a personal note, I do officiate different sports at the high school level and most passionate about the opportunity to officiate for Special Olympics. I have had the awesome experience of participating at the Special Olympics World Games in Shanghai, China, Athens, Greece, Los Angeles, USA, and Abu Dhabi, UAE as well as the past 4 USA National Games.
